Security Screening Highlights 2025

A Busy Year for the Scan-X Rental Team

2025 proved to be an exceptionally busy year for the Scan-X rental team. As well as our regular deployments at major music events in Hyde Park and Victoria Park, we supported the SW19 Championships and the annual golf tournament in Northern Ireland.

We were pleased to welcome back a long-standing customer, supplying equipment for the Royal Tattoo, which was a fantastic addition to our summer schedule. At the peak of the season, all 25 of our X-ray machines were deployed simultaneously, requiring us to bring in a further eight machines from our sister company in the Netherlands to meet demand.

Throughout the year, we also responded to several short-notice rental requests for television productions. Keep an eye out in 2026—you may spot our equipment in the background of some upcoming shows.

We closed out the rental year with two large-scale deployments, supporting the AMA and a major political party AGM.

In total, 394 items were rented during 2025, including large tunnel X-ray machines, hand-luggage X-ray machines, trace detection equipment, walk-through metal detection archways, and handheld metal detectors.

Strong Progress for Our Aviation Team

2025 was also a successful year for our Aviation team. We delivered a second C3 checkpoint lane for a well-known London airport, integrating both lanes and their associated security scanners into a single, unified management system.

In addition, we were awarded a contract to supply HBS machines for another southern UK airport and completed multiple installations of our highly popular CX180180DH cargo screening machine.

TR2000DC Trace Detector Certification

We are pleased to share that our TR2000DC trace detector achieved ECAC G1 certification in 2025.

This add-on will be supplied as standard on all new units purchased from 2026 onwards. Furthermore, all units deployed since 2019 can be upgraded to meet this new standard.

From large-scale event security to advanced aviation screening solutions, 2025 showcased our commitment to quality, reliability, and innovation. As demand continues to grow, we’re ready to support new and existing customers with proven technology and expert service.

Protecting the UK’s major events

As the photos show the Scan-X Security rental division have been especially busy protecting the UK this summer.

Our team have provided security screening equipment (x-ray machines, metal detection archways and related equipment) to several large sporting events such as tennis and golf. We have also supported a series of open air concerts in both Hyde Park and Victoria Park.

Scan-X have also provided similar security for the recent visit of one of the world’s most high profile political leaders in Turnberry, the annual Muslim conference and a major religious event held at the Excel Centre in London.

So far this year, we’ve deployed 65 x-ray machines, 156 archway metal detectors, 580 hand held wands and 12 trace detectors.

We can help with any event from 1 day VIP protection to longer duration events, with an extensive range of equipment and the ability to provide onsite support engineers if needed.

Checkpoint Security for a Major UK Sporting Event

Building on an impressive portfolio of UK clients Scan-X have again been chosen to provide the physical security for one of the UK’s household name sports events. Our experienced team set up the 16 x-ray machines shown for baggage screening at the venue entrance. The machines were supplied by Nuctech and have gained excellent feedback from other sports events, particularly regarding the crystal clear images that are provided. Complementing these x-ray machines were 50 airport quality metal detection wands from the manufacturer Ceia. Scan-X engineers were on site to support the equipment provided and ensure fast responses.

Protecting the AGM for a large UK Bank

317-min (1)
Scan-X Security helped to secure the AGM for a household name UK bank by providing 2 x-ray bag scanners and 3 archway metal detectors. The archway metal detectors were of the type normally used in UK airports, having excellent discrimination capabilities. The x-ray machines were from Nuctech, who have gained excellent feedback on the clarity of the images generated from one of the UK’s most major sporting events. Scan-X also provided an onsite engineer to supervise the equipment which is something we offer as an option to all of our clients if they would like it.
We quite possibly have the largest rental fleet of 45 X-ray machines and 55 Archway metal detectors in the UK. We are well placed to help with any rental needs from 1 day upwards at short notice.

Protecting a visiting past president

Obama 1Scan-X Security were selected to provide the physical security screening for a past president visiting Edinburgh. Our expertise in protecting high profile events and the quality of our equipment were key reasons behind the decision to use us to protect him and his guests at the May 2017 event. All visitors were protected by airport grade metal detectors and high quality x-ray machines. This equipment was provided by the Scan-X rental division who have the flexibility to support anything from a 1 day VIP event through to large scale sporting events over several weeks. We will be exhibiting!

Visit Stand F35 to meet with Scan-X Security & Ensco as they launch the new Microsearch G4.0 System to the UK market.

This new system detects and deters clandestines and helps to enhance security. It is faster, quicker and more precise than visual inspections. This system tracks, analyses and retrieves to prove that the industry standards are met.

It detects heartbeats in vehicles. It is attached by two sensors to either end of the vehicles that detects the heartbeats. The system allows you to see which sensor is generating more activity making it easier to detect the person inside. It allows the operator to easily determine if the system is actively working in the situation and helps to identify locations where vibrations may be present and determine if wind or other vibrations are present.

It can provide real-time feedback on wind speed and direction. It can capture and image of the vehicle under the test which may include the license plate. It then allows those images to be added to database for future reference.

Whilst at the expo, why not visit another of our suppliers Nuctech.

We look forward to seeing you on Stand F35 at UK Security Expo!

Event Security

Security screening of guests and attendees at events is an increasing concern. As a host, you have a responsibility to ensure the safety of visitors to your site. If your event involves a large number of guests, or VIPs or is located in a high profile location, then you may well be considering metal detection and security x-ray technology as part of your security mix.Continue reading

Service & Support

If your company uses security x-ray and Archway metal detection technology you will be aware that such technology requires regular servicing and support. Since they contain a source of radiation, by law security x-ray machines must have at least one critical examination and one radiation survey as a minimum. Containing moving parts also, it makes sense to have regular services and inspections conducted.Continue reading
